Terms and Conditions
Last updated: January 2026
These terms govern bookings made with Travelling London, operated by Jack Starr. By booking a tour, you're agreeing to what's written here. I've tried to keep it straightforward.
The Service
I provide walking tours and day trips in and around London. Tours are led by me personally — I don't subcontract to other guides. The itinerary we agree on beforehand is a plan, not a guarantee. Sometimes places close unexpectedly, weather forces changes, or something more interesting appears along the route. I'll always aim to deliver an equivalent experience.
Booking and Payment
A booking is confirmed once I've acknowledged it in writing (usually email) and received payment. For tours more than two weeks away, I ask for a 50% deposit with the balance due seven days before the tour. For bookings made within two weeks, I require full payment upfront.
Prices are in pounds sterling. Payment can be made by bank transfer or card. I don't accept cash for advance bookings, though you're welcome to tip in cash on the day if you feel so inclined.
Cancellations
If you cancel more than 48 hours before the tour starts, I'll refund you in full. Cancel within 48 hours and I'll try to reschedule if I have availability; otherwise, I keep 50% of the fee. No-shows without notice aren't refundable.
That said, I'm not unreasonable. If your flight gets cancelled or someone falls ill, get in touch and we'll work something out. Life happens.
If I need to cancel — illness, family emergency, genuine force majeure — you'll get a full refund or the option to reschedule. I won't cancel because of light rain; I will cancel if there's a genuine safety concern.
During the Tour
London involves walking on uneven pavements, crossing busy roads, and navigating crowds. You're responsible for your own safety and belongings. I'll point out hazards and keep an eye out, but I'm a guide, not a bodyguard.
If you have mobility issues, health conditions, or anything else I should know about, tell me before the tour so I can plan accordingly. I've accommodated wheelchairs, prams, and various medical needs — it just requires advance notice.
Liability
I carry public liability insurance up to £2 million. However, I'm not liable for losses caused by circumstances beyond my control, including but not limited to: transport strikes, venue closures, weather, third-party actions, or your own decisions.
I'm not responsible for any personal injury except where caused by my negligence. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
Photographs
I sometimes take photos during tours for my website and social media. If you'd rather not appear, just let me know and I'll make sure you're not in any shots I publish.
Complaints
If something goes wrong during a tour, tell me immediately so I can try to fix it. If you're still unhappy afterwards, email me within fourteen days and I'll investigate properly. I'd rather resolve things directly than see you leave dissatisfied.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by English law. Any disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales.
